Doncaster Rovers have taken Cove Rangers midfielder Blair Yule on trial.
The 23-year-old came off the bench to replace James Coppinger during Wednesday night’s friendly against Newcastle United.
Yule has been with Highland League side Rangers since 2010.
This is the second time Yule has taken a trial with Rovers having trained at Cantley Park earlier this year.
“He’s a young lad we brought down last year from Scotland,” Darren Ferguson said, without confirming Yule’s identity.
“I’ve got a good relationship with the club because I took Paul Coutts from there when I was at Peterborough.
“I thought he did well. He showed good composure, good energy.
“He’s definitely got something, the boy.”
Following his initial trial earlier this year, Yule told the Abderdeen Evening Express: “I would love to be able to go professional.
“There has been some talk between the chairmen at Cove and Doncaster.”
Rovers have also taken Tadcaster Albion forward Alfie Beestin on trial.
Goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann – transfer-listed at the end of last season – has left the club by mutual consent.
