Conor Grant will remain at Doncaster Rovers until January.

And Rovers boss Darren Ferguson has said he will do all he can to keep Grant and his Everton teammate Felipe Mattioni at Rovers for even longer.

Grant’s initial one-month loan is due to expire after Saturday’s trip to League One leaders Coventry City.

The 20-year-old midfielder scored on his debut against Colchester and has played every minute of the last five games, which have produced four wins.

“Conor will be here till January, we’ll keep him for longer,” Ferguson told The Star.

“Felipe is here till January.

“And then it will be a conversation we have with Everton.

“Everton have been brilliant with us and they know the lads are enjoying their football, which is important.

“We’ll take it from there, but we know we’ve got them until January.”

Ferguson admitted this week that he more chance of holding onto Grant for longer than former AC Milan and Espanyol defender Mattioni, who produced his best Rovers performance yet in Tuesday night’s 3-0 win over Chesterfield.

“Felipe’s not actually played for Everton, he’d just come over and they loaned him straight out,” said Ferguson.

“So I think there’s probably more chance of Conor staying than Felipe because they might want him back.

“But I don’t know, I’d have to speak to their manager and their people.

“Hopefully we can keep them for as long as we possibly can. That’s what we’ll try and do as a club.”

Grant signed a new one-year deal with Everton last summer. Brazilian Mattioni is on a deal until the end of the season.
