Paul Dickov has confirmed that Rovers have made loan enquiries for Billy Sharp and Shay Given.
As reported in last week’s Free Press, Rovers want to re-sign former striker Sharp and have enquired about the possibility of a season-long loan deal for the 27-year-old.
Former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Given, who is out of favour at Aston Villa, is also the subject of a similar enquiry.
“We did make an enquiry to take Shay on loan a couple of weeks ago,” Dickov confirmed at Friday’s press call.
“And Billy is somebody who’s highly thought of at the club. A loan enquiry did go in a couple of weeks ago.”
Summer signing Marc De Val Fernandez, meanwhile, will be out of action for at least ten weeks with torn medial ligament damage.
