Doncaster Rovers produced their best performance since Darren Ferguson’s arrival as they ran out 2-0 winners at Blackpool.

That is the verdict of Ferguson himself who was delighted with his side’s third straight win and third consecutive clean sheet.

“I would say that’s our best performance so far,” Ferguson said.

“Remembering that Blackpool in their last five home game have had 11 points.

“We knew it would be difficult coming here. It was a test of us, a test of our character as well.

“I said to the players beforehand that we had to rise to the challenge and show the desire to keep winning games.

“We felt the first goal was going to be important and we got that.

“We felt we could get crosses in the box and we did that well.

“We managed the game well,” he added. “I thought we did the ugly things right and it was difficult because it was wet and slippy.

“I thought it was a real professional performance from everyone.

“The players have to take a lot of credit because when a new manager comes in, it’s a new system.

“The work we’ve been doing on the training ground, we’re seeing it out on the pitch.

“Another clean sheet is a real bonus. That’s three on the bounce and that gives you a good platform.”
