Rovers will hope that history repeats itself when they welcome Blackpool to the Keepmoat for the opening Championship fixture on August 3.

The two sides met each other on the first day of the 2004-05 season with Rovers earning a 2-0 win over the Tangerines at Belle Vue.

Fate has ensured Paul Dickov’s first three competitive games in charge of Rovers will all take place at the Keepmoat.

Rovers were due to travel to relegated Wigan Athletic on the weekend of August 10.

But the Latics will be at Wembley on August 11 to face Manchester United in the Community Shield, giving Rovers an early season blank weekend.

The trip to the DW Stadium has been pushed back to Tuesday August 20 meaning a home clash with Blackburn Rovers on August 17 will follow the Capital One Cup clash with Rochdale at the Keepmoat.

Rovers’ first Yorkshire derby of the season will see them travel to Huddersfield Town on September 14 with an away day at Sheffield Wednesday on September 28.

There will be a wait to welcome a Yorkshire rival to the Keepmoat with Leeds the first to visit on December 14, after Rovers’ trip to Barnsley on November 9.
