An Abby Watkinson hat trick helped Belles’ under-13s on their way to an 8-0 win at Dronfield Town, writes Chris Wright.
Megan Lock (2), Jodie Shakespeare, Leah Dowling and Emily Burgin were also on target for table-topping Doncaster who have scored 31 goals in five matches this campaign.
Carcroft Village under-13s are in hot pursuit in second as they remain level on points with Belles following a 4-1 win over Dearne & District at the weekend.
Belles’ under-14s hosted bottom of the table Dearne & District and moved above Millmoor Juniors into third place on goal difference after winning 10-0.
Goals came from Demi Watson and Jordan Cheetham (a hat trick apiece), Tegan Carter (2), Shania Robinson and Kiera Oakley.
Hoping to continue on from last weekend’s 2-0 victory over league leaders Huddersfield Town, Belles under-16s faced third-placed Handsworth Juniors.
However, unable to covert a number of chances Belles’ opponents had no such problem as they won 2-0 and had a third disallowed for handball.
Just yards away along Ryecroft Road, Belles’ under-18s were also getting beaten but bizarrely by a bigger margin, however, in ‘happier’ circumstances.
Hosting a very strong Barnsley Ladies Reds side - a team that had beaten Belles 10-0 a fortnight ago - Doncaster pushed them all the way and contested every ball.
However, the visitors proved too strong coming away with a 7-3 victory.
Belles’ strikes came from Lori Hudson, Shelby Bryant and Sophie Thompson.
The Belles’ open age side won their NERWFL Division One (South) match against bottom club Westella & Willerby 2-0 thanks to an Emily Weatherstone brace.
The result lifts the Belles into third in the table after Rovers Foundation slipped unexpectedly to strugglers Ossett Albion 3-1.
