DONCASTER Rovers Belles hit the road again tonight for the relatively short trip to Lincoln, still looking for their first FA Women’s Super League (WSL) win of the season.

But skipper Katie Holtham knows that had she produced a better finish in injury-time, when the score stood at 2-2, in the club’s last game at Bristol Academy, then Belles would have three points on the board.

“It was a good chance and I probably should have scored,” she admitted to The Star.

“What made it worse was the fact they scored the winner a minute later.”

It was the club’s third successive away WSL game and Holtham , who spent the winter playing for Perth Glory Down Under, says it’s not an ideal situation that Belles have only played the odd game at the Keepmoat Stadium so far.

“At least we’ll have a lot of home games in the second half of the season by which time we hope to have climbed the table,” she said.

“We played well at Bristol. We created a lot of chances, which we hadn’t been doing, and we defended well.

“I just think that we need to get a first win under our belts and then we’d kick on from there. Lincoln are a solid side and they’ve got some good players so it won’t be easy. But we won 1-0 there last season so hopefully we can do the same tonight.”
