Sunday’s Doncaster Sunday Alliance League Ernie Prince Memorial Cup final at Bentley Colliery (10.30am) will be an all-Championship affair.

Bullcroft Sports & Pastimes pipped Rossington United to the title at the weekend but lost both league games against them during the campaign.

Whereas Bullcroft have been featured in a number of finals over the years and are previous winners, United will be making their debut in the showpiece game.

Having had the much tougher route to the final – they faced two of the top four Premier Division sides as well as strong Championship rivals Carpenters Arms - manager Chris Troupe has faith in his side,

“If we play like we know we can I rate our chances very high having beaten them twice in the league,” he said. “But we will not be taking anything for granted.”

United, who beat holders and 2013-14 Premier Division champions Sprotbrough en-route to the final, will be looking to the likes of leading scorer Lee Holmes and influential skipper Andy Culshaw on the big day.

But Chris stresses that it is not just about individuals.

“We play as a team,” he said.

Like United, who were given their hardest game by Adam & Steve in the semi-final, Bullcroft also had to dig deep to see off Stainforth in their last four clash.

“That was by far our toughest game,” said player-manager Gary Mundy.

Joe Fisher has been the team’s top scorer during their cup run and in the league. Skipper Steve Knifton has been another big player for the north Doncaster side.

“He is a great leader and the fact that we have only lost this season when he hasn’t played speaks for itself,” said Gary.

Looking ahead to the final, he said: “We lost two tight games against Rossington in the league and we’ll be looking to turn it around on Sunday.

“I think we’ve got a great chance and we’ll have a big following behind us. Hopefully we can complete a league and cup double.

“We have a very young hard-working team who are all friends and want to win the game for each other.”
