MEXBOROUGH Rovers U12 could rue the day they squandered a three goal lead against local rivals
Mexborough Rangers as the pressure mounts on the Division Two leaders.
With only three games remaining, Rovers really needed the three points to help fend off their title rivals.
And their derby day started well with the early pressure piled on Rangers paying off as Lewis Steers collected Curtis Horbury’s through ball and rounded the keeper before sliding home.
Cameron Paling capitalised on confusion in the Rangers defence to fire home the second.
After the break Chey Elliott lobbed a fine free kick over the Rangers defence with Horbury showing impeccable control before slipping the ball under the keeper.
But things quickly went wrong and even Lewis Thorpe’s man of the match performance was not enough to keep Rangers at bay.
Rhys Carter hit two quick efforts to leave Rovers on the back foot and shellshocked.
The comeback was completed in fine style as Owen Birks drilled a left footed free kick into the top corner.
A late rally from Rovers failed to take them back in front ensuring a draw in a blistering derby clash.
Tyler Rodgers scored twice but could not help Conyers U12s avoided a 4-2 defeat at Dunscroft Welfare.
Michael Pearce grabbed a hat trick as Conyers U13s conquered Markham FC 9-2 in Division One.
Jordan Myers added a brace with Sheldon Smith, Aiden Oakley, Tyler Hardy and Brett Hobson joining in the spree.
Rockingham Rovers U13s continued their success with a 5-2 win over Edlington White Stars.
Matthew Hollinshead, Bradley Smith, Kyle Baldcock, Joe Fletcher and Jonathan Bell were all on the scoresheet.
A Matthew Tuck strike was not enough to save Barnburgh and Harlington U13s from a 2-1 defeat at Rossington Juniors.
Mexborough Rovers U13s suffered a 3-0 defeat at Armthorpe Rovers in the Premier Division.
Conner Webb’s hat–trick was the highlight as Mexborough Main Street U13s pipped Ordsall Rangers A 4-3 in Division Two with Matthew Hemmingway also finding the net.
South Elmsall United scored six of the best to beat Balby Academy of Sport.
Kyle Head scored twice with Kyle Lazenby, Max Heritage, Jake Hayhurst and Daniel Priestley rounding it off.
A Thomas Saddington brace helped Mexborough Rovers U11s triumph 4-3 at Adwick All Stars in the Premier Division. Ellis Hancock and Matthew Greaves doubled the tally.
Declan White scored twice and Curtis Allen once for Conyers U11s only for them to lose 6-3 at home to Balby Academy of Sport.
Ben Tonkinson scored but Mexborough Rovers U14s were held to a 1-1 draw by Warmsworth Lions in Division One.
Jack Wood found the net for Conyers U14s but they went down 4-1 at home to Barnby Dun Colts.
Barnburgh and Harlington U15s lost 7-2 to Carcroft Village Juniors in the Premier Division though Tom Ryall and Jordan Wright found the net.
Sam Jones’ solitary strike earned Mexborough Rangers U15s a 1-0 win at Askern Town.
A Kane Thornton brace helped South Kirkby Juniors U15s to a 2-1 win at Adwick Park Rangers.
South Kirkby Juniors U16s B won 6-1 in the Premier Division with Chris Mills scoring a brace and Shaun Hobson, Jake Wileman, Luke Malone and George Prouda also on target.
Mexborough Main Street U16s also hit six in their Division One win over Edlington White Stars.
Joe Dungworth scored twice with Ben Rowe, Teejay Brown, Josh Armstrong and Jack Ford also finding the net in the 6-2 win.
