Rovers never cease to amaze me!
Every time they get knocked down they get back up again. It was a really good second half at Coventry and a deserved win. Our away form is up there with the best in the league.
I think it’s going to come down to a handful of teams. Barnsley, Bradford, Peterborough and Rochdale are all in the mix. At this point if you go on a good run and maybe take nine from 12 points it leaves you in there.
It doesn’t help us having no game this weekend, although it could be that Paul Keegan and James Coppinger come back in time for the rearranged game. So if you look at it from that point of view it could end up being positive.
This season we’ve reacted well to falling behind and I think that’s down to the manager.
I’m a fan of Paul Dickov’s, the players he has brought in are good players and he’s done well considering what went off in the summer.
Bringing Abdul Razak off at the weekend before he was sent off, for Rovers then to go and win the game, is excellent management and good vision. I think he makes good decisions. Not everything goes right but we can still make it into that top six.
n Doncaster Belles started their season last weekend, and I think they can go up too.
I’ve got a lot of time for their new manager Glen Harris and they’ve got seven or eight players that are top flight quality.
If they get a good start I think they can do it.
I was speaking to some of the girls after their opening day win over Durham and they said they didn’t play their best despite winning.
But I feel that’s what it is all about, getting something even when you don’t play well, and that applies to both Belles and Rovers.
n I’m looking forward to James Coppinger’s testimonial and I hope he gets a really good turn out.
In my time watching Rovers he really is one of the greats. He’s superb and he seems to just get better.
He’s also a good guy. There’s not many like him in football. When I talk to him I think he’s got a good tactical knowledge too, and he’ll make a great coach one day if that’s the route he chooses.
