BLUES boss Peter Rinkcavage has signed prolific goalscorer Brian Cusworth in a bid to fire his side out of a relegation battle.
The 31-year-old striker has proved lethal for the likes of Parkgate and Stocksbridge Park Steels in the past and Rinkcavage is hoping for more of the same as Frickley attempt to move clear of the danger zone.
Joining Cusworth at Westfield Lane is former Sheffield Wednesday trainee Scott Lowe, a centre half who spent time with Worksop and Belper Town. Both arrive from Sheffield FC.
The Blues gave a much improved performance to hold hosts Stocksbridge to a 1-1 draw last weekend.
Cusworth started against his former club and went close to giving Frickley the lead when a looping header came back off the post before he fired wide.
Blues keeper Ben Simpson turned a Josh Muldoon effort around the post before Frickley took the lead on 36 minutes.
Bradley Grayson found Ashley Longstaff who drilled into the roof of the net from 20 yards.
Stocksbridge started the second half strongly with Andy Ring drawing the best from Simpson.
But they did find the equaliser just after the hour mark when Muldoon’s glancing header beat Simpson.
Frickley pushed hard to retake the lead with Mark Whitehouse going close, and their chances looked brighter when Stuart Ludlam was dismissed for the hosts.
But they failed to find the net and had to make do with a point.
The Blues host Bradford Park Avenue on Tuesday night.
