Danny Wilson has revealed he would like to sign TWO more new players to strengthen his squad.
Speaking exclusively to The Star, Wilson believes he has got most of his bases covered ahead of the new League One season, which kicks off on Saturday for the Reds at home to Crawley Town.
But Wilson would like two new additions to bolster his options for what promises to be a tough campaign ahead.
“We’re still looking to bring a couple [of players] in,” Wilson told The Star.
“We’ve got all of our bases covered now, but we want strength in depth as well.
“Whether we bring anyone in before Saturday, who knows? But even if it’s not before Saturday, then maybe we’ll do something next week.
“We’ve got targets and we’re working hard to get them, but we’re playing a waiting game.
“The only thing is we can’t wait for ever and will have to move on if there’s not any movement on those targets.
“But overall I’m really delighted with how the new players have fitted in.
“It’s easy for me to say that to give them confidence, but genuinely they’ve all been brilliant and bought into what we’re trying to achieve this season.”
Wilson has signed nine new players this summer following the departure of a string of players from last season’s first team squad.
And the Reds’ boss is relishing the start of the new season as the club look to give their supporters something to smile about after last season’s disappointing relegation from the Championship.
“Yeah, I’m really looking forward to it,” added Wilson. “It [the new season] comes around pretty quickly.
“Crawley have had major changes just like us and brought in 13 or 14 new players, but it’s still going to be real stern test for us against them.”
