Barnsley boss Paul Heckingtbottom has warned his side against complacency this weekend.
The Reds host Wigan Athletic at Oakwell tomorrow looking to extend their current unbeaten run to four matches.
Heckingbottom is delighted to have seen a few injured players return to training during the international break ahead of the visit of the Latics.
“Wigan will come here and work their socks off to impress their new manager,” said Heckingbottom. “This division is so unpredictable. Just looks at our fixtures. We win games when we’ve been told we’ve got no chance.
“But we also lose games when people have already given us three points. That’s what this league is – and I find it strange that people can’t see that.
“We just have to guard against ourselves and make sure we perform. If we perform and do our best we have a better chance of winning.
“We’re a pretty focused group, but if people keep saying things to you, well you can end up believing it.”
Meanwhile, Barnsley owner Patrick Cryne, who is suffering from cancer, issued a statement yesterday to thank fans for their loyal support.
Cyrne has stepped down from any involvement in the club as he undergoes treatment for the disease.
“I would like to thank fellow fans who have sent me best wishes over the last couple of weeks,” said Cryne.
“It has been amazing and humbling to receive such positive sentiments.
“I have been somewhat neglectful about my health in the past, ignoring good advice from my family and friends.
“With the benefit of hindsight, I strongly advocate everyone to participate fully in cancer screening programmes to the fullest extent.
“Discovery of the disease early makes a full recovery more than likely.
“I know that some of my fellow fans are suffering from this terrible disease also, and I send my best wishes to them for a speedy recovery.
“I remain totally a custodian of our football club. I am confident that our present management team will keep us on the course we have set.
“Thank you for showing your loyalty to the Reds. Your support has been the bedrock of our recent successes.”
