Rotherham Titans have made seven changes to their line-up today as they look to put last week’s disappointing loss to London Scottish behind them at Richmond in the Championship.
Titans will look to discard the frustrations of their 31-30 defeat to the Exiles when they take on Richmond for the first time since the 1996/97 season.
They will hope to do better than they did that day as they were on the wrong end of a 64-38 defeat.
There are four changes in the backline. A new half-back pairing of George Tresidder and Will Goodwin comes in for Matt Dudman and Charlie Foley. Joe Barker makes his first appearance of the season at centre as he replaces Cameron Hudson and Jake Henry returns on the wing for Ben Foley.
In the pack, a trio of players making their first starts of the season sees Toby Salmon come into the second row for Miles Normandale, Jack Ramshaw replace Oli Curry at blindside flanker and George Oliver step in at openside for Dan Grange.
Head coach Justin Burnell said, “We were bitterly disappointed with our performance against London Scottish; we went in 10-0 up at the break and were looking good and in control. We came out for the second half added a penalty and we still looked comfortable and in control.
“Then all of a sudden we start shipping points and they go on to score five tries. Apart from that being embarrassing, it’s a fact that some of our players were just too soft. We know the Championship is a tough environment and we have to embrace and face that challenge week in and week out.
“This week, the boys as well as the coaching staff have worked hard and we are all looking for a reaction.”
