MATT Challinor and Tom Davies are the latest players to commit their futures to the Knights.

The two forwards joined Chris Hallam, Michael Keating, Tom Luke, Dougie Flockhart and Tomas Francis in extending their stays at Castle Park.

Doncaster born front row Davies arrived back at the club last summer after a spell with Cardiff Blues and was a regular starter this term.

Director of rugby Brett Davey said: “Tom is widely regarded as one of the best loose-heads in the league and I am delighted he has chosen to stay with us, but it is important he has healthy competition for the jersey.

“He has become a senior player within the squad and as with many of the players we have re-signed he has a certain personality about him that suits the Doncaster style and he has a bright future at the Club.”

Former Hall Cross pupil Davies will continue to divide his time between the Knights and studying for a chemical engineering degree at Sheffield University.

Challinor is looking to build upon a strong second season with the Knights after deciding to stay at Castle Park.

Davey is sure the second row will have had offers from elsewhere and is delighted to retain the 28-year-old’s services.

He said: “He is a leader amongst men and holds the respect of every player.

“He has been a warrior this season and is our go to guy and seems to get better and better year on year.”

“No doubts about it, Matt was offered more money elsewhere, but he has shown great loyalty and is a true rugby man – I see a long future for him here at Castle Park.

Davey is currently in the process of rebuilding his squad following the departure of 19 players.
