Doncaster RLFC skipper Kyle Kesik could defy the odds and line-up in tomorrow’s League One clash at Hunslet Hawks.

Kesik looked set to be ruled out with a knee injury sustained in the win over Barrow, prompting head coach Gary Thornton to bring in Ryan Wright in midweek.

But Kesik trained on Thursday and will come into contention providing he doesn’t suffer a reaction,

Thornton, however, is still delighted to have secured versatile Wright until the end of the season.

“I wanted to keep him at the end of last season but he wanted to give it another try back at Dewsbury,” he said.

With second-rower Nathan Tonks breaking a leg last weekend, Mike Kelly is drafted in.

The Dons don’t have the best of records in recent years at the South Leeds Stadium and were well beaten there in this year’s Challenge Cup.

“We didn’t play well on the day and we let both ourselves and the fans down and we hope to make amends tomorrow,” said Thornton. “But it’s never an easy place to go and they are a better side than their record suggests. They had a tough start but they have won their last two games.

“But we had a good win last weekend and I was very impressed by our goal-line defence. I still think we need to work a bit harder when the other side are bringing the ball out of defence, but overall things are coming together.”

“We can get far more done in training since the clocks went forward last month because we were a bit restricted during the winter with only having a small floodlit area to work on.”
