Doncaster Knights have welcomed the decision to broadcast their home game with Rotherham Titans live on Sky Sports.

The Castle Park clash has been moved back a day to January 4 (1pm) to accommodate the cameras. Doncaster’s director of rugby Clive Griffiths said: “I can remember back to my first stint here at Castle Park playing Rotherham on a very cold December afternoon. I think we were only game in the county that was played on that day but despite the weather there was a massive crowd and great atmosphere and I’m looking forward to a similar occasion this January.

“Logistically it means a six day turn around before the game away at Bedford but the positives are numerous. When we were in National One last season we longed for the return of these days and it will be a great occasion for the fans, players and everyone involved.”

Doncaster and Rotherham are currently fourth and fifth respectively in the table, level on 14 points from five games. Rotherham coach Lee Blackett said: “There’s no bigger game in our calendar than against our South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Knights. It will be a great occasion.”
