Clive Griffiths has added a former British and Irish Lions prop and a Gloucester scrum-half to his squad.

Pontypridd-born prop forward Darren Morris has joined as a player and scrum coach - providing a welcomed boost to Knights’ injury-ravaged front row.

Morris has had an illustrious playing career which includes Neath, Swansea and Leicester Tigers. He earned his first cap for Wales in 1998 and also made over 100 Premiership starts during stints at Tigers, Worcester Warriors and Northampton Saints.

The 39-year-old also took on a player-coach role at Hartpury College and was a forwards coach for the Russian national side before being selected for the 2001 British and Irish Lions tour to Australia.

Meanwhile, scrum-half Brad Field has penned a two-year deal having spent the early part of the season as player-coach at National Three London and South East side East Grinstead.

The 28-year-old was also on the books at Bath before heading to Canada and Richmond RFC spending a season there. He later enrolled at Hartpury.

With Chris Hallam’s injury setback, Field provides good cover in Griffiths’ side as they look to bounce back into the Championship.
