Tony Miller is confident his Dons side can end the 12 match winning run of Sheffield Eagles and reach the Northern Rail Cup final.

The Dons’ reward for seeing off Swinton Lions last week was a plum semi final clash with the Eagles at the Keepmoat on June 30.

And head coach Miller believes his side can book their ticket for the final at Halifax next month.

“It’s going to be a tough game but we’re delighted with the draw,” Miller said.

“It’s nice to have a home draw because it would have been seven straight on the road if not.

“Sheffield’s record is incredible right now and they really seem to have hit their groove.

“But if we play at our best I think we can beat them.

“There wasn’t a lot between us and them at Don Valley a few months ago.

“We beat Featherstone last week and we were worthy of the win, it wasn’t a case of hanging on.”

After a run of one win in ten games in all competitions, the Dons have now win five of the last six matches.

And Miller believes his side have finally settled into the Championship following promotion.

He said: “We’re there or there abouts when it comes to where we need to be.

“It’s taken longer than we thought to acclimatise to this division but we’re at the level now I think.

“What we need to do now is build a cushion between ourselves and the bottom of the table.

“Then we can start thinking about the cup.”
