DONCASTER BOWLS: Tetley seals remarkable win for Parklands

PARKLANDS B came from behind to pip Bawtry B 143-130 in their Doncaster Bowls Association Over-60s Division Three clash.

Derek Spence (21-9) helped Bawtry into a 21 point lead at the halfway mark, but Parklands turned the match around in the second half with last man Malcolm Tetley winning 21-6 to clinch the victory.

Ron Strutt (21-9) featured for Bentley Colliery in their 157-127 win over Hexthorpe.

Malc Warren (21-6), Stan Job (21-9) and Lol Atkinson (21-8) performed well for Carcroft in their 147-119 win over Adwick B.

Alan Burns (21-9) starred for Adwick B in their 153-138 win over Pilks Pensioners.

Jane Morris (21-5) and John Stead (21-4) won the game (149-124) for Hexthorpe at home to Bawtry B.

Champions Mexborough finished the season with a 162-102 victory over Rossington B with Colin Nicholson (21-4) being their best winner.

Rossington had good wins from Archie Hughes and Harold Wren (21-8), Malcolm Needham and Ian Wilson (21-6) and Ray Porter and Ken Sanders (21-9) in their 84-40 Over-60s Doubles League Division One win over Askern. Armthorpe posted an 82-71 win over Thorpe Marsh Bentley.

Barry Tomlinson and Pete Strutt (21-2) and Dave Clarke and Ron Mortlock (21-9) excelled for Thorpe Marsh Bentley in their 82-52 win over Parklands.

Margaret Dudill and Colin Draper (21-4) gave Roundwood a great start in their 78-51 win over Westfield Park. Dennis Reilly and Roy Tomlinson, and Eric and Nora Buxton both won 21-9 in Askern’s 65-60 victory over Thorpe Marsh Bentley. Pilkingtons’ only win came from Mick Baker and Ken Newcombe (21-6) in their 69-54 defeat at Bawtry.
