Davies keeps Hatfield hot on heels of the leaders

ROSSINGTON Main returned to winning ways in the All Saints Indoor Cricket League with an easy win against bottom club Warmsworth.

Warmsworth struggled to set any real target for the league leaders, ending up on 60 for 2.

Mark Shanks (18), led the way with Aaron Horsfield and Matthew Spurr both scoring 15 against some accurate bowling led by Roy Nelson.

Main had little trouble in knocking off the runs with Scot Wood top scoring with 23. Mark Chichester and Cobhan Walker claimed a wicket apiece for Warmsworth.

Second-placed Hatfield Town remain hard on their heels after winning a hard-fought match against fellow title chasers Barnby Dun.

Opener Paul Davies (34) continued in his rich vein of form with the bat as he and James Stewart (26) helped Town reach 119-4.

Dun lost a wicket in the first over before Stewart McPhee (25) and Scot Rich (16) steadied the ship but once both had been removed their target seemed a long way off and a late burst from Scot Walker (25 not out) was in vain.

Graham Worrall (26 not out) top scored in Hatfield Main’s knock of 101-3. Darren Freebury (20) and Andrew Stuart (18) gave good support in a surprise victory over much-improved Parklands.

Openers Scot Hibbert (29) and Richard Miller (20) looked to have set up Parklands for a comfortable victory but once both had departed their innings fell away as Mel Bellamy claimed 2 for 21 to secure victory for his team.

Maltby MW recorded back-to-back wins against a weakened Askern side as John Pinkos (2 -6) and Liam Parker (1-8) resticted their opponents to 53-4. Paul Pendle (25) helped make Maltby make light work of their reply.

League positions: Rossington Main P 9 Pts 64, Hatfield Town 9 62, Doncaster Town 8 54, Barnby Dun 9 50, Maltby MW 9 36, Parklands 9 32, Askern 9 28, Hatfield Main 9 24, Warmsworth 9 0.
