LUKE Crowcroft ought to be kept in a cage with a warning sign.

‘Beware The Beast’ is his trainer and promoter Stefy Bull’s message as the precocious 18-year-old made a powerful entrance into professional boxing at the Dome.

Scawthorpe’s Crowcroft won numerous amateur titles through skill but it was raw strength and aggression that forced opponent Adam Stretton to retire.

Stretton had never been stopped before but he paid the penalty for trying to outgun the heavily built Crowcroft in the centre of the ring. Stretton was floored with a left hook and retired in the stool citing a hand injury.

“It serves him right for thinking he could trade with me,” said Crowcroft.

“It was a right buzz to box in front of my home crowd and he tried to give it a go but I was stronger than him.

“I’m confident that I’ve got a lot of power to take out kids at this level even though I’m just 18. They say you get stronger when you’re older and that’s bad news for super-middleweights because I’m already hitting hard.”

Mickey Davies from Stainforth also looks like a puncher. He took out Vaclav Skromach in three rounds.

Once Davies began to get through, the Czech was visibly shaken and when he was forced into the corner by a particularly meaty barrage, the referee stepped in.

Rossington’s Maxi Hughes got another six round win at Magna. Hughes used his greater skills to get by Andrejs Pudosovs 59-55.

Bentley’s Jamie Hughes edged out James Tucker in a Doncaster derby on the same bill.

The always game Tucker gave it his all but was up against it with southpaw Hughes wisely using his right jab to keep him at a safe distance.

Woodlands’ Jason Cunningham beat Anwar Alfadli at the Dome and is now seven unbeaten.
