PONTEFRACT AND DISTRICT CRICKET LEAGUE
DIVISION ONE

WOMBWELL Main were well and truly outgunned as they entertained Ackworth and slumped to an eight wicket defeat despite setting a credible target.
Attractive batting from Lee Clayton who knocked 85 and Lee Angel, striking 68, enabled the home side the post a respectable 178-5.

Although Ackworth lost a couple of early wickets an unbeaten partnership from Chris O'Grady (57) and Kevin Marshall (49) eased the visitors to 179-2.

Hooton Pagnell inflicted Frickley Colliery's first defeat of the season as they triumphed by 40 runs.

Ian Jackson and Andy Stones put on 41 for the first Hooton wicket while double figure routs for Adrian Coates, Daniel Owen and Alwyn Dyke kept the scoreboard moving with Luke Lodge making 21 before being given out for obstructing the field when a return to the wicket struck him.

Hooton ended on 179-9 with Barry Wathey taking 3-31.

Having dismissed Stephen Secker for a duck Steve Hardaker, who finished with 5-24, continued to make in-roads into the Colliery order as Kevin Pearson, Richard Belk and Keith Whitehouse were the only ones to look comfortable before a brisk 26 from Lee Capstick but the visitors were dismissed for 139.

DIVISION TWO
CONISBROUGH captured nine points after getting the better of exchanges when they hosted South Kirkby

Paul Green (45) and Bob Fuller (43) ensured that the home side posted a knock of 199-9 while Adam Lowery refused to give up the fight for Kirkby as he took six wickets for just 30 runs.

The visiting batsmen were given little chance to shine as Lee Johnson and Scott Lowe's four wicket hauls had them in trouble but they denied Conisbrough maximum points by hanging on for 153-9.

Upper Haugh gave an improved performance but went down by five wickets in the final over when they entertained Darton.

Chris Cotton (32no) and Darren Hough (30) helped the home side put 172-8 on the board while Lewis Hawley and Adrian Darlow both took three wickets for Darton.

Inspired by Craig Lee (76) and Richard Damms (39), Darton replied with 176-5 but individual plaudits for the day go to Haugh's Cotton who took 3-31.

The capture of five wickets without a run being added helped Frickley Colliery conquer Askern Welfare by eight wickets.

Matthew Wilson (43), David Longley (33), Andrew Lunn (30) and Ryan Patrick (13) laid the foundations for Welfare only for the collapse which saw the second half of the order capitulate to 141 all out.

Causing the chaos was Mark Proudley 3-17, Jamie Blacker 2-5, Andrew Wathey 2-33 and Paul Kirkham 2-29, while wicket-keeper Terry Hinchcliffe snapped up three stumpings.

After Matthew Charlton (33) and Tom Stanley (44) had got Colliery in gear, Andrew Wathey (40no) steered them to 144-2.
