DENNIS Priestley will begin his hunt for the PDC US Open title with a first round clash against Kevin Czipo in Connecticut tomorrow (Fri).
A 258 player field - including Mexborough's Darren Johnson and South Elmsall's Mark Lawrence, who meet Scott Pressey and Dennis Sayre Jnr respectively - will be whittled down to the final 16 on a marathon day of darts at the Mohegan Sun Casino tomorr

DEARNE Valley College Ladies' hopes of a third Cup Final in three years came to a dramatic end on Monday as they exited the British Colleges Cup to Stockport on penalties in the semi final.

DVC went ahead early in the second half through a Natasha Carlton lob and looked the most threatening until Stockport equalised from a corner with ten minutes to go.

With neither side able to find a winner, the clash was decided on penalties with Stockport triumphing 4-2.

WESTVILLE captured the Wath and West Melton OAP Charity Cup with a dramatic 4-3 win over Plough at the Queens United Ground on Sunday.

Jamie Williams fired in from close range two minutes from time to finally kill of a Plough side that had come from behind three times.

Plough always looked dangerous from set pieces but were ultimately left disappointed following the highly competitive clash that raised more than £600.

DEARNE High Athletics squad enjoyed a successful weekend of pole vaulting including a clean sweep in the under-15s at the Yorkshire County AAA Championships on Sunday.

Eric Martin came within 5cm of the championship record and grabbed a new personal best to take the gold while Nicolas Cole, Lewis Billum and Jordan Ratcliffe took second to fourth respectively.

Kathrine Wilson took silver in the under-20s, Fiona Harrison and Patrycia Krawczyk took gold and silver in the senior womens while Rhys Searles and Paul Hallworth took gold and silver in the under-20s.

Luke Cutts cleared 5.2m to take the senior gold but missed out on a new championship record after six hours of sun ebbed away at his energy.
