UPTON Rugby enjoyed an eight wickets win over neighbours Upton Wrangbrook in the opening game of the JJ Leisure Cricket KO League at South Kirkby.
Opener Ricky Chappell (49) was the only Wrangbrook batsman in double figures as they were easily dismissed for 89 while pick of the Rugby bowlers were Mick Washer 2-2 and Alan Spencer 2-12.

Anthony Smith (35no) put on 32 with Ross Johnson (14) and
44 with Rob Iveson (23) before being joined by Todd Williamson (10no) to guide Rugby to 90-2 in the 17th over while Darren Gascoigne and Ricky Chappell claimed the wickets.

BARNSLEY Leisure League side Holland FC are looking to move away from the lower end of the table after picking up an impressive 5-2 win over high-flying Making Up The Numbers at Dorothy Hyman Sports Centre.

In the big clash at the top of the table, Cudworth Boys moved a point ahead as Craig Goodyear never tired in his performance, helping his side to a 2-1 win over The Elite.

DEARNE Valley College Ladies reached the National Quarter Finals of the British Colleges Cup after beating Middlesbrough away 2-0 with goals from Natasha Carlton and Natalie Allen. It is the first time that the DVC Ladies have reached this stage of the competition and the win set up a clash with South Notts College.

SOUTH Kirkby Colliery Angling Club's match at Swanlands, Thorne, on Saturday was won by Ian Taylor with 45lb 12oz.

Runner-up was Richard Beasley with 34lb 04oz and Geoff Barkers was third with 33lb 08oz.
