THE TOUGHEST girl in the Dearne has earned a reception with the Baddest Man on the Planet after her success between the ropes.
Ernie Oxer School of Boxing fighter Lauren West will step into the ring as part of a special charity boxing night which will feature special guest Mike Tyson.
The 19-year-old continued her recent success with a strong points win over Emily Roberts at Rotherham Trades and Labour Club last week. West gave away both weight and record to Roberts but emerged a 17-4 winner from the contest which also saw her force two standing eight counts.
Now she will turn her attention to the March 13 show at Leeds United's home Elland Road where controversial former undisputed world heavyweight champion Tyson will be the guest of honour.
Oxer School head coach Paul Durose said: "This is an amazing opportunity for Lauren and she really deserves it after the performances she's put in recently.
"She's really come on since she came into our gym and she must be in contention for an England call-up now.
"The win last week was massive for her. She was fully in control throughout, it was fantastic."
West's gym-mates Lewis Riley and Caine Crossley were both defeated in the quarter finals of the National Schoolboy Championships in Havercroft at the weekend.
The pair became Yorkshire champions the previous week but both suffered narrow defeats against experienced opponents.
Riley was well behind going into the final round but rallied to narrow the gap to 8-6 before the final bell.
Durose said: "The two lads did very well. We knew it was going to be tough but they were both brilliant.
"They will both be ones to watch next year in the Nationals. What we've learned from this year will stand us in good stead."
The Oxer School has an amateur show scheduled for March 26. Details will be announced in the Times in due course.
