FRICKLEY Athletic will renew acquaintance with Bradford Park Avenue next season after the West Yorkshire outfit were promoted as Unibond League Division One North champions along with FC United of Manchester who beat Skelmersdale United in the playoff final.
The Blues will wave goodbye to Gateshead who won the Premier Division playoff final with Buxton to join champions Fleetwood Town in the Conference North, as well as bidding farewell to Leek Town, Stamford and Lincoln United who all drop out of the di
vision.

Although Retford United finished top of Division One South they will not be joining Frickley in the Premier Division due to their ground grading allowing Cammell Laird to gain promotion automatically while Nantwich Town beat Sheffield FC on penalties in the playoff final.

Past and present Frickley players turned out in force at Westfield Lane on Monday to take part in a charity game for central defender Steve Heath and an encouraging crowd saw a Chairman's XI beat the Blues 5-3.
The Blues were virtually at full strength, while in the Chairman's XI, skippered by manager Billy Heath, was assistant manager Mark Carroll, along with goalkeeper Gary Ingham, defenders Gary Hatto, Anthony Jackson and Steve Kennedy, midfielders Neil Redfearn and Martyn Woolford and striker Leroy Chambers.

Steve Heath has been out for most of the campaign with an illness, diagnosed as cancer, but has had treatment and is hoping to be on the way to a full recovery.

Heath said: "I'm delighted at the response from everyone concerned and wish to thank them all for their generosity and support. Hopefully, I shall be back in action next season and will have wonderful memories of today."

PARKGATE ended the season in eighth place in the Northern Counties East Premier Division despite a 1-0 defeat in their final game at Selby Town.
