GLADEDALE SOUTH YORKSHIRE CRICKET LEAGUE
PREMIER DIVISION

Shiregreen 112
Elsecar 113-4

ELSECAR stormed seven points clear at the top of the league after a convincing win at Hatfield House Lane over Shiregreen.
The hosts were sent into bat and had their innings in tatters with six wickets down for just 25 runs under the hostile pace attack of Lesroy Weekes and Sri Lankan Nandinka Ranjith.

Mehfooz Khan had threatened to delay Elsecar's title capture last year and was in similar frustrating manner on Saturday as he smashed seven fours in a 39 run inning from number eight.

Khan was aided by Fida Mohammed who contributed 24 to raise the total to a respectable 112 as Weekes took 4-27 and Ranjith 3-25.

In contrast to their bowling assault, Elsecar's innings was painstakingly slow as after 25 overs both openers were gone with the scoreboard on just 39.

Skipper Ian Swallow is proving the model of consistency this season and he once again took control of events with seven fours in a 58no haul to steer Elsecar home with six wickets spare.

Collegiate 189-7
Darfield 181

DARFIELD failed to dampen Collegiate's good start to the season in a thrilling contest at Abbeydale.

Teenage opener Tom Lister hit nine fours and a six to reach 83 while Peter Turnbull added 44 in the middle order as Collegiate set a challenging 189-7 though Paul and Carl Wilkinson both took three wickets.

The Darfield innings was in difficulties at the beginning as both openers went for just seven runs between them but Scott Adamson emerged for a bright innings of 64 to steady the ship.

Stumper Paul Haddon added 30 as Darfield moved towards the target but their hopes were ended just eight runs short with an LBW.

Houghton Main 170-7
Whitley Hall 173-3

AFTER the excitement of their first win last week, Houghton Main were brought down to earth with a strong display by visiting Whitley Hall.

Sixteen-year-old Aidan Morris displayed his growing potential with a excellent 59 for Houghton with Paul Riley adding 36 to creep up to a respectable 170-7 while South African Jaco Castle took for wickets for the visitors.

With their first three batsmen on good form Whitley reached the winning total in 39.2 overs as Andrew Bethel opened with 38, skipper Alex Fletcher reached 50 while Steve Bethel struck 52.

Treeton 133-0
Wath 132-9

WATH were dumped into the relegation zone after an overwhelming defeat to Treeton at Washfield Lane.

After Stephen Foster had disturbed the stumps of both Wath openers, Andrew Tomlinson was introduced into the attack and successfully removed the middle order.

Wath struggled to the close at 132-9 with skipper Rob Barlow top scoring with just 26 while Tomlinson claimed 4-31.

The Treeton faithful were wowed with scintillating knocks as Wath failed to accomplish a separation and Treeton achieved a 10 wicket win.
Tomlinson rounded off a superb individual performance as he reached an impeccable 72no with 13 fours and Foster was unbeaten with 57.
