Hallam took to the centre first and soon came under fire from on form Sri Lankan Amil Prasad who removed both openers with just 13 runs on the board.
Skipper Jim Tasker and Neil Mountjoy provided stoic resistance until the latter's stumps were di
sturbed by Glenn Yates for 22 and the former fell to the same bowler for 15 through a good take from returning stumper Matt Thewlis.
At Tasker's demise the score was at 73-6 and the return of Prasad signed the death warrant for Hallam. In a devastating display he removed the last four batsmen with the final two falling in consecutive balls as Hallam were skittled for 91.
Prasad came away with figures of 6-19 while Glenn Yates also impressed with 3-27.
The humiliation at the hands of Shiregreen a few weeks ago still fresh in the memory, Elsecar emerged determined to avoid a similar disaster with opening pair Tim Farmer and Jason Meadows responding to the attack with clinical ruthlessness.
Farmer reached 38 while Meadows stayed until the end to close at 42no as Elsecar completed the simple task in just 19.4 overs with one wicket down.
Houghton Main 105
Treeton 106-2 HOUGHTON failed to do Elsecar a favour as they suffered a comprehensive defeat to third place Treeton at Little Houghton.
Main had few answers to the pace of Lal Faraz as they went in first and five of the batsmen were gone for ducks while stumper Andrew Joburns provided the main resistance on 25no.
Houghton crashed to 105 all out with Faraz completing his first five wicket haul for Treeton to claim 6-28.
Treeton used just 21 overs in passing Houghton's score for the loss of two wickets with Andrew Tomlinson seeing the innings to its conclusion with a good knock of 58no and helping them to within seven points of the leaders.
Whitley Hall 151-4
Darfield 146 THE threat of relegation still looms over Darfield after they suffered a six wicket defeat to Whitley Hall at Baxter Field.
Darfield batted first and opener Paul Haddon opened with 33 before Cedric Mabuya struck seven fours on his way to 46 but the innings petered out for a final total of just 146.
Whitley's South African strike bowling pair Donovan Koch and Jaco Castle both removed three batsmen before the latter provided 34no in the runs race as Hall completed a comfortable win with four wickets lost.
Wath 271-5
Sheffield Collegiate 116 WATH compounded the woes of opponents Sheffield Collegiate with a dominant performance at Moor Road.
Openers Vinay Devishetty and James Barnard produced 137 for the first wicket when the former left after scoring 74 in 70 balls, with ten fours and a six for good measure.
Barnard's more leisurely contribution ended with his score at 64 and 12 boundaries included in the total while Steve Reynolds continued the run chase with 60 as Wath amassed a strong total of 271-5.
With seven juniors in their squad, Collegiate struggled against the Wath attack. Opener Danny Walton, 19, scored 26 and 16-year-old Zabe Javed lit up the latter part of the innings with seven fours in his 34.
His demise in the final over was followed by the final wicket on the penultimate ball to provide Wath with maximum points. Mark Barlow took 4-28 and Rob Barlow 4-21.
