But he has warned his players to start performing - or face the axe.
The new-look Dons suffered the same old problems in their Co-operative Championship One opener at Rochdale Hornets as they slumped to a hugely disappointing 56-24 reverse.
Hal
ifax outfit Siddal - one of the country's leading amateur clubs - pose a big banana skin at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday (2pm).
And Miller, whose team are without a win from their opening four league and Northern Rail Cup ties, is demanding a big improvement from his side.
He said: "I expect a lot more from the lads. Siddal are a good team and they gave Swinton a bit of a fright in last year's Challenge Cup. They will have seen our results and will fancy their chances. We'll need to match their desire and enthusiasm."
Miller added: "We just didn't defend properly against Rochdale and it's disappointing because we spent a lot of time working on that aspect of our game in training.
"It's something we need to address and the players need to start carrying out the instructions we are giving them. We need to play smart rugby. Nobody is guaranteed a starting place and if players are not performing they'll not be picked."
Miller has promised changes for this weekend - but at least three of chose will be enforced after Craig Fawcett, Grant Edwards and Nathan Anderson picked up long-term injuries at Rochdale.
Edwards scored tries either side of the break to help the Dons recover from going 30-0 down at Spotland - before leaving the field with his leg in a splint after falling awkwardly.
He could miss the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury, according to Miller.
Fawcett (dislocated finger) and Anderson (hamstring), meanwhile, also face spells of at least a month on the sidelines as the Dons continue to be plagued by injury worries.
Jack Ely bagged a brace of tries against the Hornets but it was scant consolation as the hosts cantered to a comfortable 11-try win.
Miller could be boosted by the return of Craig Lawton, Gary Ellery and Simon Brown on Saturday.
They will come up against a Siddal side who won the National Conference league and cup double last season.
