ECB COCKSPUR CUP
Elsecar 139-2
Bridlington 135-7

SOUTH Yorkshire League champions Elsecar enjoyed a comfortable win in a reduced overs contest to advance in the national knock out competition.
Drizzle throughout the afternoon hampered the day's play at Armroyd Lane but both Elsecar and Bridlington played at a high competitive level to ensure a finish to the 30 overs contest,

The seaside club opted to bat first and continually tried to test the Elsecar bowling with Casey Rudd batting throughout the innings and reaching a score of 50no.

A soggy outfield meant that Rudd only accumulated two boundaries in his impressive haul while his side closed on 135-7.

Elsecar lost a quick wicket but then Tim Farmer and Matt Thewlis added 51 before the former departed on 30.

Big hitting Lesroy Weekes joined Thewlis in the centre for a partnership which would guide the game to its conclusion.

Thewlis hit 48no and Weekes 40no as Elsecar won by eight wickets with eight overs to spare to set up a visit to Yorkshire Premier League side Driffield on May 18.
