DONCASTER and District Junior League side Conisbrough and Denaby Juniors are currently thriving after successes both on the pitch and off it.
The Under-14s team have recently been crowned Division Two champions after a season which saw them defeated just once - by title rivals Tickhill - and finishing with a goal difference of +92 after netting 111 times in 20 matches.
Young player Ryan Mead lost his mum Sam to breast cancer in February and his team mates have been raising money by taking part in a memorial cup double header with league rivals Thorne Colliery.
The tie finished as a draw after both sides picked up an away win so it came down to a penalty shootout with Thorne winning to lift the trophy.
Sandy Rushton from Conisbrough and Denaby Juniors said: "Ryan presented Thorne with the cup which was quite emotional but he said that is what his mum would want. It was a fantastic game, really enjoyable over the two legs and the lads always enjoy playing Thorne.
"We raised quite a bit of money overall. We made £85 from the raffle on the evening alone so it has been a great success for us."
All proceeds will go to the Willow Foundation which aims to provide people aged 16 to 40 with life threatening conditions a chance to enjoy a special day away from their daily routine with each experience specifically catered to the individual.
The club also received a £5000 grant from Doncaster Youth Service earlier this year to aid their operation which takes in young people three times a week for football.
Mrs Rushton said: "We want to say a big thank you from parents and people who run the club to the youth service because it's a massive help for us."
