THURNSCOE pole vaulter Luke Cutts has earned the right to represent the UK squad at the European Under-23 Championships in Lithuania next month after an impressive performance in national championships at the same level.
Cutts secured gold with a 5.41m clearance at the Bedford International Stadium on Sunday which - along with his 5.55m vault at the Loughborough International earlier this year - has landed him a place on the flight to Lithuania.

The vault at Bedford broke the previous best for the England Under-23 Championship and made it a hattrick of records for the Dearneside High Athletics Club star who is chasing a place in the 2012 Olympics. He previously broke records at the Yorkshire and North of England championships.

Training partner Paul Hallworth was also on good form in Bedford and only narrowly missed out on the medals with a clearance of 4.40m. Hallworth made several impressive attempts at 4.70m which demonstrated his potential and he can now enter a full training programme after completing his A Levels.
