On Monday, March 21, my wife and I decided to visit Wombwell on a Stagecoach bus at about 10.30am, leaving from the bus stop near Hirstgate on Doncaster Road.
On reaching the stop after the Montagu, the passengers were ordered to disembark and wait for another bus.
On politely asking why, I was peremptorily told: “Get in line, over there with the rest”.
Another bus arrived, and took us on a very circuitous route to Wombwell via Manvers, Wath, Cortonwood and Wombwell Railway Station, then down the hill to the town centre.
Returning was slightly better. A bus took us directly to Mexborough Bus Station, before we changed buses for the remainder of the journey.
Now, I do not wish to tell Stagecoach how to operate a PSV service, but whatever the traffic problems due to roadworks in Doncaster, the Doncaster/Barnsley route was clear (to the best of my knowledge).
Is there any comment from Stagecoach?
