BRAVE B&Q staff tackled an armed thief who pulled a knife on them.. when they caught him hoovering up their vacuum cleaners!
Staff at the Cortonwood store saw the thief taking a set of Dysons out into the garden section, where he was apparently stashing them in a hiding place.
When workers confronted him, he pulled the knife. One staff member tried to grab him by the jumper, but the knifeman wriggled free of his top and fled the store empty-handed. No-one was hurt in the incident.
Police said the knifeman was white, around 5ft 8in tall, slim, aged in his 30s with dark, short curly hair. He was wearing jeans, a light grey jumper type top and white trainers.
A spokeswoman for police at Rotherham said: “The suspect jumped into a light green car near Morrisons. He was on a mobile telephone and was running around without a shirt on.”
B&Q refused to comment.
