ACTRESS Sheridan Smith is facing tough competition as she is nominated for yet another prestigious award.

The 31-year-old, from Epworth, is said to be neck-and-neck with household name Julie Walters for to be crowned Best Actress in a Play in the What’s On Stage Awards.

This time, Bells readers can give golden girl Sheridan a helping hand by going online and voting for her.

She was nominated for her dazzling, West End performance in Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, having previously won a What’s On Best Actress award for playing Elle in musical Legally Blonde.

Other nominees include Billie Piper, Sally Hawkins and Jill Halfpenny.

Sheridan has also been named as one of the Daily Telegraph’s top 25 Britons of last year and as among the most influential performers in the arts in The Stage’s 100-strong power list, alongside heavyweights including Dominic West and Imelda Staunton.

She has also been short-listed for best drama performance at the National Television Awards for her portrayal of Mrs Biggs on ITV.
