DONCASTER looks set to forge close links with the earl who carries the borough’s name.

Doncaster Council is establishing closer links with the Earl of Doncaster, Richard Walter John Montagu Douglas Scott, after he met mayor Peter Davies at the Mansion House to discuss a plan to create a more lasting link.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Mayor Councillor Cynthia Ransome, Symeon Waller of the online Doncaster History project, and local businessman Graham Rhoden who owns The Earl of Doncaster hotel.
