Doncaster Racecourse has announced that it is set to open its doors to local residents for a free evening of sporting action this summer.

The Racecourse will host the first of two residents’ race meetings on Thursday July 17, in a bid to encourage people who have never been horse racing to try it for the first time, as well as offering great value to existing racing fans who live close to the Town Moor track.

The Doncaster Residents’ Racenight follows the success of the racecourse’s three previous free racedays which have been designed to encourage local people to enjoy a day’s racing with family, friends and colleagues alike.

Mark Spincer, managing director at Doncaster Racecourse, said: “Horse racing is one of the nation’s best loved sports, and for very good reason. A day at the races is fast paced and exhilarating, but with the addition of great hospitality and the chance to enjoy a really social day or evening out with family and friends. As this year’s residents’ meeting is an evening fixture, it offers a great opportunity for colleagues to attend together after work to enjoy some mid-summer sporting action together.

“The Doncaster Residents’ Racenight is an opportunity for us to give something back to the local community. Our free race meetings are a great way to introduce the thrill of a day or evening at the races to non-racegoers as the event is about so much more than just watching sport. We expect this fixture to be really popular if the success of previous free racedays is anything to go by, so I’d encourage people to book up early to avoid disappointment.”

The Doncaster Residents’ Racenight will be closely followed by a free Racenight on Thursday, July 24 for those living in the wider Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire areas.

As with the Doncaster event, Family Enclosure tickets will be free of charge when booked in advance.

For both of the Residents’ Racenights, discounts will also be available on upgraded tickets with Grandstand tickets priced at £5, County at £9 and Premier at £12 per adult when booked in advance. Free tickets are limited to four per address.
