A CAPITAL day out was enjoyed by a large group of youngsters and adults from Rawmarsh.
The party enjoyed a trip of a lifetime, courtesy of the ‘Friends of Ashwood’, the Rawmarsh primary school’s parents group, and other fundraisers.
Trips to London for 26 children from year five at Ashwood Primary School have been organised by the ‘Friends’ since 2005 and are an annual highlight.
The visit included an Olympic Park coach tour, along with a look around the House of Commons and House of Lords, followed by a spin on the London Eye.
Local companies sponsored the day, including AESSEAL Charitable Trust Discretionary Fund and the South Yorkshire Community Fund.
Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healey said: “The pupils asked lots of questions on their tour. They were a great credit both to the school and to Rotherham.”
