UP to 150 jobs could be on the way at Manvers - as retail giant Next reveals plans to extend its massive Rotherham warehouse.

Next opened at Brookfield Park, Manvers, in 2008 and employs 450 people.

Its two buildings can handle 110,000 pallets and include Next’s biggest warehouse in its 13-site distribution network,

This handles 88,000 deliveries to 500 Next stores all over the UK, and to over 2.5 million internet and catalogue customers.

Plans submitted by St Paul’s Developments will see a 700,000 sq ft unit - the size of six football pitches - extended by 200,000 sq ft across the car park.

Next group revenues had ncreased by five per cent to £1,587m in the half year to July 2010,

Next Directory sales are up by 9.5 per cent.

Brookfield Park covers 85 acres and was formed from the old pit site. Other businesses based there include Maplin Electronics, Pegler Yorkshire, Solaglas Windowcare and DBC Foodservice.
