Doncaster Lakeside will be the venue for two water-based fun events this weekend.
The annual Dragon Boat Challenge takes place between 11am and 4pm on Saturday to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
Teams of 11 can take part in the competition, no experience is necessary, but entrants need to be aged over 18 years.
As well as the racing there will be a funfair, charity stalls, food, drink and entertainment.
The Dragon Boat Challenge is organised by the council’s tourism team Doncaster Tourism and the Doncaster St George Rotary Club.
Last year’s event raised £9,000 for local charities and was won by the team from Thales Digital Endeavours.
Nick Franklin, from Thales, said: “The 2010 event was great fun and we’re looking forward to defending our title this year.”
Peter Davies, Mayor of Doncaster, who will be attending the event, said: “The dragon boat racing is a great event and I would encourage everyone to come along and help raise money for the British Heart Foundation.”
On Sunday, the first ever national junior Splash and Dash Regatta takes place from 10am. The 400 metre rowing event for 12 to 16-year-olds is sponsored by Doncaster Schools Rowing Association.
