Plucky Conisbrough grandad Jim Beachill has an ambitious list of things to do before he dies – and one is walking the Great Wall of China!

And the intrepid adventurer has now booked three plane tickets to the Far East... one for himself and two more for his grandkids Jack and Elishia.

The trio intend to walk 100 miles along the ancient wall, to raise cash for Sheffield’s Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.

Jim has planned the gruelling mission as part of his “Bucket List” challenge – to accomplish a list of adventures before he dies... after being inspired by the film of the same name two years ago.

He said: “For whatever reason, the Great Wall of China has fascinated me since my youth.

“The challenge is greater, as it is in an Asiatic country, visiting towns and villages whose names we cannot even pronounce!”.

But the group are no stranger to walking along walls.

Two years ago, they walked all 84 miles of Hadrian’s Wall and raised thousands for charity. Last year the trio, plus Jim’s wife Barbara, travelled coast to coast, across America, also for charity.

He will be flying to China on October 16. To sponsor him, visit: www.justgiving.com/James-Beachill0
