The top acts to feature on the main stage include Sean Rumsey, a finalist in this year’s TV talent show The Voice, X-Factor’s Lloyd Daniels and Diva Fever and Katrina Leskanich, formerly of Britain’s Eurovision winners Katrina and the Waves.

There will also be a number of tribute acts, a showcase of local talent, cabaret and dance tents.

Completing the family fun day attractions will be a market, fairground rides and food and drink.

“Pride isn’t just for the gay community, it’s about bringing people together in a friendly and happy party atmosphere,” said Pride chairman Trevor Jones.

“It really does have something for everyone and we encourage people to come along.”

The Doncaster Pride committee is also using this year’s event to announce the award of National Lottery funding of a new project worker who will aim to stamp out homophobia in Doncaster classrooms.

“Homophobic bullying in our schools remains at a level that is unacceptable. Young people are bullied on a daily basis because of their sexuality and suicide attempts by lesbian, gay and transgender teens account for a massive 30 per cent of all suicide attempts across the country and across all ages.

“This should not happen in a civilised country in the 21st century,” added Mr Jones.

Doncaster Pride’s main stage begins from 1pm until 9pm.

Entry is £5 on the gate, children aged 14 and under are free.

There will also be an after party at Crystal’s nightclub in the Market Place until 4am. Entry for that is £3.
