Filming is due to start on Monday for a new episode of Open All Hours.
A BBC film crew has spent the weekend transforming the Boutique hairdressers on Lister Avenue in Balby into Arkwright’s cluttered corner shop.
David Jason is set to reprise his role as shop assistant Granville and is due on set tomorrow for three days of filming for a one-off Christmas special.
Retired foster mum Lucy Viney 69, who lives a couple of doors up from the shop, had a cameo appearance in the original series, which ended in 1985.
She said: “It was a scene where there was smoke coming out of a van and I had to shut my curtains quickly and look a bit annoyed.
“I met all the original cast, David Jason and Ronnie Barker. They were so nice.
“I was surprised to see them filming a new episode but I’m looking forward to seeing it.”
Another resident Clinton Leverton, 38, said: “There’s been so much activity on the street. My dad was a huge fan of the show and I can remember watching it aswell.
“It will be good to see David Jason on set.”
