VIDEO: Firefighters tackle blaze at Sheffield scrapyard

Fire engines are tackling a huge blaze at a scrapyard in Sheffield this morning.

The blaze on Grange Mill Lane, between Shiregreen and Wincobank, was discovered at 7.15am.

Crews from Darnall, Elm Lane, Rotherham and Tankersley all attended the fire, which involves a number of scrap cars.

Plumes of smoke can be seen across the city.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said the fire is now under control.

He said: “The fire is under control and we are reducing the number of engines.

“There will be a fire presence there throughout the day as crews dampen down the area.”
