VIDEO: Doncaster hit and run teen returns home

A brave teenager, who has battled to recover from extensive brain injuries sustained in a hit and run collision, is overjoyed after medics agreed to allow her to come home for good.

Danielle Stoton returned to her family home in Harris Road, Armthorpe this week after the 19-year-old amazed medics with her progress.

Her homecoming marks a remarkable upturn in fortunes for the family which feared Danielle may not pull through after she suffered life-threatening head injuries when she collided with a car as she walked home from a party in August last year.

And the former Doncaster college pupil says she was ‘blown away’ by the love and support shown by the 50 friends and family members who were waiting to watch her to finally return home on Sunday.

She said: “I was shocked because I didn’t expect them to all be there.”
