Two-year-old attacked by family’s pet Rottweiler in Rawmarsh

A two-year old Rawmarsh girl has suffered serious injuries after being attacked by her family’s pet Rottweiler.

The girl, who police are not identifying at this stage, was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital by ambulance. She has since been transferred to Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

The dog is believed to be the girl’s family pet.

It was on a lead at the time the tragic incident occurred and was in the company of both the two-year-old girl and an adult female relation.

The dog has been taken to a secure kennel facility whilst police enquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The girl’s condition has been been described as stable and not life-threatening.
