TWO teenagers in a stolen car had to be taken to hospital after colliding with a tractor during a police chase.
Officers tracked a stolen red Peugeot 306 following an alleged theft from a shop in Thorne and when the driver failed to stop, a chase took place in the area.
The police pursuit continued on to Station road in Stainforth, where the Peugeot, heading towards Hatfield, was in a collision with a yellow JCB tractor travelling in the opposite direction.
The collision happened 100 yards south of the junction with Emerson Avenue at around 1pm yesterday.
The Peugeot driver, a 19-year-old man, was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary with a suspected fractured wrist, cuts and bruises.
He has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, police said.
A passenger in the Peugeot, another 19-year-old man, suffered a head injury and was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary and remained in a “serious” condition.
Three police officers involved in the pursuit had slight neck and back injuries.
All three were taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary but not detained. The driver of the JCB was not injured.
