Identical twins are celebrating their success after each winning titles – and most importantly crowns – at a beauty pageant.

Kendra and Lilly Nixon, age five, travelled from their home in Mexborough for the UK Princess and Prince International pageant in Birmingham last month.

The girls competed against children from across the country in the five to eight age category, and both walked away feeling like princesses.

Lilly was crowned Little Miss UK Princess National Supreme and Kendra was crowned First Princess, despite it being her first pageant.

Proud mum Kirsty Carrington, 26, said: “People were surprised it was Kendra’s first pageant. She was up against people more experienced that her and she beat them.

“Lilly always does well. She’s quite cute on stage, I think that’s what wins it for her. I nearly didn’t let them compete too because I was worried about them going up against people so much older then them. I was screaming when they both won. I’m so proud of them.”

Both girls received a crown and a sash, which are on display at the family home on Morton Road.

Money raised from the entrance fee for the pageant and the contestants went to a chosen charity Rainbow Child Foundation.

The girls also won the join title of Charity Ultimate Grand Supreme as they raised the most money for the charity, a total of £189.

The charity relies on donations to be able to help underprivileged children around the world. They provide schools with play pumps, sanitation, farm seeds bank and HIV awareness programs, and also build orphanages.

Not content with the amount they raised, the girls are held their first big fundraising event on Sunday.

The event, at Pastures Lodge, Pastures Road, was a huge success. The girls have raised £200 for the Rainbow Child Foundation so far, with donations still coming in.

There was lots of entertainment on offer, including Minnie and Mickey mouse, Peppa Pig, bouncy castle and a cake stall.

Kirsty is now looking in to running another fundraising event in December.

Lilly has decided she does not want to do any more pageants for a short while, but sister Kendra will be competing in Miss UK Dreams in Birimingham on November 9.
