Upgrades lead to station’s award

A TRAIN station has won a national award after undergoing a renovation.

Mexborough station won the Small Station section in the National Rail Awards following a series of improvements including renovations to waiting rooms and toilets, installation of CCTV and information screens as well as enhancements to parking.

Funding was provided through the National Station Improvement Programme, with a further contribution from South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE).

The judges were impressed with the improvements and steps taken to keep the station clean.
